The most accurate representation of the Earth is a globe. This is because a globe is a three-dimensional representation of our spherical Earth, which allows for minimal distortion in terms of area, shape, distance, and direction.
I am guessing this month, so I do not have much time to hunt. They were scattered hither and yon as times went on. You could now find a cache during your lunch break, family visits, at a church or shopping mall near you. More people were interested, and things literally exploded.
Those that think that I am attacking families, I am not. Instead of the outdoorsman, we see families. Cell phones and free programs mean that just about everyone can cache. Coins with the size of 1 inch (25 mm) are called microcoins, because they fit into microcaches (e.g. film canister). The smallest geocoins with a diameter of 0.5 inches (13 mm) are called nanocoins, and have been sold since 2009. If the diameter is larger than 3 inches (76 mm) the geocoin is called macrocoin, and contains the saying of “that’s not a coin, it’s an anchor”. I have met a number of people coming to visit to grab all the caches they can. And the flow of caches started to migrate to the cities. Cachers could start to load multiple caches into their GPS units. A geocoin is a collectible coin that travels from place to place. If you found a geocoin the first thing you need to do is “grab” it online so that you can add your own story to its journey.
Over the years, geocoins have also increasingly seen non-traditional coins, or trackable geocoins that do not confirm to the traditional circular coin shape. If you have more than one coin in your inventory, select one by left-clicking it on your mouse or hold the Ctrl key and select multiple coins to drop off at once. Once you complete selecting the coins, click the Submit button to log your action to the cache page.
Take the trackables off chains and drop the chains back in the cache. I was not around, but have talked to enough people, and followed enough threads to put a few things together. Remember that GPS units in the first few years of geocaching were expensive. The crappy ones that we take for granted now were expensive. Few people had them, and maps were another expensive addition to the models sold.
What if I take everything from a geocache?
You can take an item from the geocache (if there is one) or leave an item for the next person. If you take an item, be sure to replace it with another item of equal or greater value. Since geocaching is a family activity, be sure that what you leave is family friendly and appropriate.
